How to save money while buying eyeglasses?
Here are two of my favorite money-saving tips while buying glasses. If you want to buy eyeglasses, I hope you’ll find them useful.
Before you click “buy,” search for coupons:
Do you wish you had a big, juicy coupon code for the checkout page? A quick bit of Google searching may produce one .
Save a small fortune on prescription eyeglasses:
Are you still paying hundreds of dollars on every pair of glasses? Order online and you can get out the door for less than $30, possibly even less. I probably wouldn’t use some so called famous brand eyeglasses in USA again, if only because of their slow shipping and poor communication. But there are plenty of other online eyeglass-makers to try.
Quick-release eyeglasses hinge
A hinge for eyeglasses includes a hinge block for attachment to a lens frame of the eyeglasses. The hinge block has an aperture and a slot extending from the aperture. A hinge pin is attached to an arm of the eyeglasses. The hinge pin is pivotally received by the aperture and has a radially extending leg that is sized and shaped to pass within the slot upon attachment of the hinge pin to the hinge block to enable quick release when desired.

Vancouver, British Columbia (Vocus/PRWEB ) May 14, 2009 — Clearly Contacts, Canada’s largest online optical store, has introduced progressive eyeglasses to its ever expanding line of vision care products. The company announced the launch of progressive lens eyewear targeted to the “baby boom” generation, as a follow up to the wildly successful single vision eyeglasses launch in February, 2008. Eyeglasses and method of manufacture thereof
A pair of eyeglasses with a unitary appearance by having the connecting piece concealed includes three parts: a lens-seat, two connecting pieces, and two temple assemblies. The unique alignment of the three parts in assembly allows for variegated design in the temple assembly, which can also be a restraining buckle strap. The adjustable temple assemblies can be easily assembled with the lens-seat without tools, which is rotatable relative to the lens-seat via different positions in meshing between the parallel teeth of the retaining piece (extending outwards from the temple assembly), and the protruding teeth of the connecting piece, thereby permitting an optimal adjustment of an inclination angle of the temple assembly.

Hawaii Residents Donate Eyeglasses to Afghanistan
People living in remote mountain villages in Afghanistan will soon be getting used prescription glasses from Hawaii.
The Lions Club and the Rotary Club are collecting thousands of pairs of used glasses from all over the state.
Volunteers measure the strength of the glasses lenses, label them, clean them and pack all the eyeglasses up.
Next month, U.S. military postal service will fly all the glasses to Afghanistan.
“The two members of the Lions Club who will be traveling there will be taking these glasses to separate mountain villages, escorted by the tribal leaders and distributing the glasses to the people who live in those villages,” said Dr. Hugo Higa of the Aesthetic Vision Center. (more eyeglasses…)
