Eyeglasses Claims
What is claimed is:
1. A retaining device to retain eyeglasses to a piece of headwear, said retaining device comprising: a disk-shaped member, said disk-shaped member having an substantially convex exterior surface and a substantially concave interior surface; and, at least one clamping member disposed on said disk-shaped member and having a surface positioned to bear against said substantially concave interior surface when an earpiece of said eyeglasses is positioned between said clamping member and said substantially concave interior surface, said surface of said clamping member having a convex radius of curvature.

The invention is directed to a reinforced nose bridge structure, eyeglasses employing the reinforced nose bridge structure, and methods of making reinforced nose bridge structures and eyeglasses. A reinforced nose bridge structure includes an elongated body and a wire extending along the body for most of its length. The ends of the wire project from the body to form a pair of spaced-apart nose pad supports. Respective nose pads are mounted at the ends of the wire forming the nose pad supports. The nose bridge may be attached directly to eyeglass lenses or to complete or partial frames for the lenses.

A frame assembly for eyeglasses is provided wherein the overall width of the eyeglass frame is adjustable by utilizing a telescoping brow bar. The upper frame member or brow bar is formed to include either a pair of telescoping or indexed joints allowing the length of the brow bar to be adjusted thereby placing the hinge points and temple bars further apart from one another. The adjustable length of the brow bar provides excellent adjustability of the overall width of the eyeglass frame in simple mechanical construction. Further, in a unique method of forming the adjustable brow bar assembly a central portion may be formed in a first molding step and an adjustable hinge section is then molded directly over the central portion in a second molding step. The present invention utilizes in-mold-assembly techniques to reduce the assembly steps required to form such an adjustable brow bar assembly while further resulting in an eyeglass frame that has increased adjustability and utility.

A pair of eyeglasses with a unitary appearance by having the connecting piece concealed includes three parts: a lens-seat, two connecting pieces, and two temple assemblies. The unique alignment of the three parts in assembly allows for variegated design in the temple assembly, which can also be a restraining buckle strap. The adjustable temple assemblies can be easily assembled with the lens-seat without tools, which is rotatable relative to the lens-seat via different positions in meshing between the parallel teeth of the retaining piece (extending outwards from the temple assembly), and the protruding teeth of the connecting piece, thereby permitting an optimal adjustment of an inclination angle of the temple assembly.
